Although I have worked in a large variety of media, my work is highly influenced by my background in the sciences. I work to convey high levels of detail from my subjects, attempting to mimic scientific illustrations. In abstraction, I use simple lines and shapes to build a density of information. In addition, I draw on art styles from Japan, especially sumi-e. The fluid brush strokes created by a sumi brush stand in contrast with the other, simple straight lines and shapes within my work. Various pieces highlight the interesting interactions that are created when these two types of lines mix.
